STAYING ON TOP OF RETAIL AND RESALE TRENDS
Greenwood, Indiana November 8, 2019 – Vena Holden, owner of Selective Seconds for over 22 years, recently attended two events to further her networking and education of the resale industry. “Resale is growing as evidenced by some of the big box stores like Macy’s and Penny’s all wanting a piece of the pie,” Vena says. It’s a win-win business for everyone and people are passionate about recycling and saving money.
The first seminar attended was the Resale Academy in Kansas City in October. Keynote speaker Kizer and Bender were recently named the number one retail blog in the US by PR Newswire Media. Rich Kizer and Georganne Bender are experts on generational diversity, consumer trends, marketing and promotions and everything retail. Vena was able to gain timely advice as she is moving Selective Seconds to their new location in Greenwood this winter.
Immediately upon returning from Kansas City, Vena and two of her assistant managers, Becky Lee and Alysia Diederich, attended the Fall NARTS (The Association of Resale Professionals) conference. There they learned about online sales within the resale industry from keynote speaker Melissa Morales, owner of Back by Popular Demand. Vena was one of three afternoon speakers focusing on employees.
“We have an ongoing commitment at Selective Seconds to continue our resale education and stay on top of our profession” says Holden. “We left our meeting with renewed energy, invaluable contacts and a multitude of fresh ideas to help us provide exceptional customer service and quality merchandising to our customers.”
Selective Seconds has been open since 1997 and recently bought the former Combs Chiropractor office located at 1000 N. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. Holden hopes to be moved this winter after renovations are complete. The new property includes 2 acres and Vena plans on hosting events this summer on the property.
